“Rainy season” a prone season to catch dermatitis in dogs and cats. Most important aetiology to cause
dermatitis in pets are minute insects, in other words, we can say ectoparasite. This is the parasite which
is present on the fur/hairs of the pets namely “fleas and ticks”. These harmful ectoparasite of pets are prone to cause dermatitis in dogs and cats. As we know during the rainy season the unwanted grass is grown around the street, as this is the place which are more prone where this ectoparasite get attached to pet body, especially “Ticks” because when we take pets for a walk, unfortunately, the larvae of ticks remain at the tip of the grass blade and when dogs/cats pass from the same grass these larvae attached themselves to the body of pets and here the life of tick began, which is responsible to cause “TICK FEVER” in dogs.
Tick and fleas are the most common, that most pets face during the rainy season, which plays an important role to cause, flea dermatitis in dogs, miliary dermatitis in cat, tick fever, tick paralysis, tick toxicity and due
to bloodsucking nature of ticks, pets suffer from anaemia, bacterial infection and as this ectoparasite get attached to pet body there is chances of itching to the skin due to the bite of a tick and pets start rubbing body with hind legs or to any object like wall etc. which causes injury to the skin and due to injury there are the chances of causing secondary infection to pet animal which may lead to cause bacterial infection if not seen in early stage and as we know rainy season is a prone season for the growth of bacteria.
Here are few reasons, how fleas are harmful to pets.
The bite of fleas are painful, irritating and produce a hypersensitive reaction in dogs and cats.
As result of the bite, the skin becomes rough rash develops and due to this pet dogs and cats goes
on rubbing the hind part.
